In the first module you will first learn about the core concepts behind Lean Six Sigma, such as its mindset of Continuous Improvement and the customer focus that is central to both Lean and Six Sigma in all its incarnations. Next, the course will take you through the histories of Lean, Six Sigma and their synthesis into Lean Six Sigma as it is known today.
With all its terminology, techniques and statistics, Lean Six Sigma can be a lot to take in for the uninitiated. In the second module you will be given a full overview of the Lean Six Sigma methodology through four different perspectives on Lean Six Sigma, namely LSS as a business improvement approach, process improvement methodology, toolbox framework and mindset. The module concludes with an overview of the LSS roles and organization structure, a brief discussion of the two main structures employed in LSS (Womack and DMAIC) and the role of the Yellow Belt in all of this.
In the third module of this course, you will learn the principles, metrics and formulas that every Lean Six Sigma professional should know by heart, no matter their level. On the Lean side you will learn about the principles of Customer Value Add, Waste, Flow, Push and Pull, and the metrics of Process Lead Time, Takt time and Process Cycle Efficiency. On the Six Sigma side you will learn about Variation and Defects and several process capability metrics, among which the eponymous sigma level. The module concludes with a lesson on the Problem Solving Strategy Y and how it relates to LSS and the DMAIC cycle specifically.
In the fourth module you will learn about the management aspects of Lean Six Sigma, such as team leadership, change management, project management and programme management. The course concludes with a final chapter on the future of Lean Six Sigma.
